"The Shamans of Sumatra" A photographic safari through the rich landscape and culture of Vietnam, home to some of the world's friendliest and most welcoming people. From stylish Hanoi to remote mountain villages, home to some of Vietnam's many Ethnic minority groups, from bustling city allies in the Old Town of Hanoi to peaceful rice paddies we will have a chance to explore the range of photographic opportunities Vietnam has to offer. Talented photographer, AP Lynch [Ant to his mates] is there to share the hunt for a good image and spend time working with you on developing your skills. Ant last visited Vietnam 20 years ago as one of the first foreign visitors allowed into the country and is really keen to see how it has developed since then. Anthony will cover the topics; Portraits : (use of available light, communication with locals, composing the sitter, style ) Cityscapes ( long exposures, 'trick' photography, composition, light, pattern, texture) Landscapes ( light, composition, the use of rules of thirds, colour, shade , texture, black and white.) Reportage( story telling and all that involves) Still life.( depth of field, composition, available light and lighting rigs,) Night photography. ( long exposures, use of aperture/shutter speed control) Wildlife. (Long lenses, patience, anticipation of shots) Evenings will be the time to look at the day's work and discuss topics, there will also be opportunity for one-on-one discussion with Ant of your own work.
