Rajput Splendours- Inspiration and Creative Journaling. Tutor- Jane Richens Dates Feb, 2010 hosts – Fiona and Parveen Rajasthan the Land of Kings- a land rich in heroic stories set against rugged desert landscapes was also home to many artistic splendours. Through a exploration of her magnificent Havelis [highly decorated palaces] and finding inspiration from her rich arts history we will join Jane Richens in developing our own creative journals- a record of our journeys, a font of inspiration to use back home. We have the opportunity to stay in old castles, richly decorated Havelis and atmospheric hotels; join block printers, and traditional painters using centuries old techniques based on ground stone pigments in their workshops, visit rag paper mills for archival quality papers and journals and a chance to wander the bazaar looking for inspirations. We will take time to record these observations and time to follow our own inspirations during a journey through this colourful area. Future tours will follow a similar itinerary. |
